The General Manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali invited the WTA family along with the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions committee to release coral fish at the resort’s beach.
Every year during the tournament, the resort hosts an inspiring activity in support of the local environment. Past initiatives have included releasing newly hatched Olive Ridley turtles and donating an artificial reef full of young coral, which was planted off the Nusa Dua coastline as part of the area’s coral restoration program. Players and tournament executives have always participated in these projects with great enthusiasm.
To continue this annual tradition, tournament VIP’s were invited to take part in the fish release. The group will include General Manager, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, Bipan Kapur, Ms Peachy Kellmeyer, the first employee of the WTA when it was founded by Billy Jean in 1973, who still serves with the organization and was recently inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the contributor category. Along with Tournament Chairman Mr. Willy Walla, Tournament Director Kevin Livesey and Annie Livesey as International Public Relations & Marketing of the tournament. Other participants were Mr. Xu Zhihua who is the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director and a member of the Executive Committee of Peak Sport Products Co.
“This is the 3rd consecutive year that the event has been held at The Westin and Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) and it has been a great to see the tournament gain momentum over the course of time. It has been has been a treat for spectators and Bali as a destination. I wish the tournament good luck as they it moves to Sophia, Bulgaria from next year. I wish the committee the very best of luck,” commented Bipan Kapur, General Manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali and Bali International Convention Centre.
“The relationship between The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali and the tournament goes beyond 3 years. Even before the event was held at the Bali International Convention Centre, the resort fully supported the tournament with an annual welcome lunch for the players as well as an array of fun activities that provided a refreshing break in the lead up to the competition,” said Annie Livesey, International Public Relations & Marketing of the tournament.
